Viime viikonlopun vietin tässä 1970-luvun tyylisessä retromekossa,. Olen kerrassaan ihastunut mekon nostalgiaa huokuvaan kukkakuosiin. Povaan maksimekosta tulevan kesäkauden suosikkiani. Se tuo mieleeni perhealbumin vanhan valokuvan, jossa istutaan omakotitalon takapihalla aurinkotuolissa ja juodaan mansikkamehua. Ilmassa on ehkä vastaleikatun nurmikon tuoksu ja radiossa soi Abban Dancing Queen.
Tai ehkäpä mekon voisi kuvitella 70-luvun Los Angelesiin, jossa jonkin rocktähden muusa vaeltaa rantabulevardia hellehattu päässään ja pyöreiden aviator-aurinkolasien taakse verhoutuneena. Viereisen rantakahvilan kaiuttimissa soi tietysti The Doorsin Love Street …
Todellisuudessa näen itseni tämä mekko päällä Barcelonassa, jonne olemme lähdössä pian. Näen itseni hellehattu päässä nauttimassa lasillisen sangriaa vuokraamamme huoneiston terassilla. Näen itseni kävelemässä rannalla tai istahtamassa katukahvilan terassille juomaan café con lecheä ja seuraamaan espanjalaista elämänmenoa.
Reissun tunnussävel uupuu vielä, mutta ehkä se löytyy matkan varrelta.
The summer is finally here. Last weekend I wore this retro style maxi dress, which I predict to be my summertime favorite. The flower dress reminds me of some old photographs from the family album from the 1970’s, where my mother and her friends are sitting on the deck chair in the backyard and drinking strawberry juice. And maybe there is the smell of freshly cut grass in the air. And maybe the old radio is playing Abba’s Dancing Queen.
Also, I could imagine this dress in Los Angeles back in the 70’s where some musician’s muse is walking on a beach boulevard wearing a summer hat and aviator sunglasses while in the background The Doors’ Love Street is playing in some seaside café nearby.
In reality, in the year 2016, I see myself wearing this dress in Barcelona, where we are traveling at the end of the week. I see myself sipping a glass of sangria on the balcony. Also, I see myself walking on the beach or having my café con leche on the terrace in some cozy café.
I don’t have a theme song yet, but I think I will find it along the way.
